One suggested method was in regards to colour printing on that model from linux. I spent all afternoon yesterday trying different ways. After changing to OK5600L1.icm it worked OK in Color mode. Thanks for all the info Matt, I'll try your suggestions. Note:By default the "ICM Color Profile" (on the menu "Printer options") was "OK3200L1.icm" which seems to be a Black&white profile. 8)And finally the desired name, descption and place (doesn't mather for the work of the printer). Then select the 5800c model and the "5800C Foomatic/foo2hiperc " driver. Wait auntil the next dialog window appears, and then choose "Select printer from the data base", with the "Oki" manufacturer selected on the manufacturers list. Then press the "Next" button.ħ)Now a "searching drivers" window appears. I choosed the "AppSocket/HP JetDirect" queue, wich is on the 9100 port. You have a "test" button on the right top to test the availability of the selected queue. On the bottom right side of the window there is a "Connection" button, for select other desired queues. On the right side it appears the IP and the default selected queue is "PASSTHRU". To make it work with the the system-config-printer the steps were:Ĥ)Select "network printer" on the dialog windowĥ)Filled with the printer's IP (in my case it was 172.23.2.138) the "Search" box and press the "search" buttonĦ)Now it appears as a JetDirect printer on left side of the window. I haven't had succes with "Duplex Printing" yet. The autodiscover function when adding the printer seems to work only sometimes, not ever. Don't tested yet with the usb port, but I think it should work OK too. only tested with the network ethernet port (URI device: socket://172.23.2.138:9100 ). configured with the cups GUI "system-config-printer" like an Oki C5800 (Foomatic/foo2hiperc driver). CUPS 1.4.4.4-1 -driver foo2hiperc version 1.1 (included on the package foo2zjs version 20090908dfsg-4 on Debian ) Debian SID with Linux Kernel 2.6.32-5-686 When I came back to home, in less than 1 minute the printer was working perfect.except by the color( See the final note), which required a little change on the config. There are the same printer, but with different names!! The idea came when I saw an Oki C5800 owned by a friend. I have made work this printer (Olivetti d-Color P160-W), like if there was an Oki C5800. The rest of the submitt form its OK (I reproduce below). "Oki d-color P160-W" and must be "Olivetti d-color P160-W".ĭue to this error it was wrongly inserted on the database, and it appears on the Oki supported printers, but it must be on the Olivetti supported printers. I wanted to report the Olivetti d-Color P160W as a supported printer in CUPS, because nowhere on the net it was reported to work in no other operating system than Windows.Īll the submitt form was correct except the "Printer name", which I filled as I made a mistake on a "new printer" submitt form, and I would be pleased if one of the site administrators could fix it. Pps - F12 : foomatic-db-ppds, foomatic-db-filesystem, foomatic-db Ps - F11/F12 : foomatic, gutenprint-foomatic, gutenprint-cups, hpijs I have searched the web and I have not seen anyone else with this same error. Since these are warnings I cannot suppress the output. With the same environment when I run the same command it throws identical warning messages. I installed Fedora 12 in a virtual machine to test things out. But when I tell Puppet to use the script it see's the warnings and then refuses to run the script.
